Recently Translated Version of Southern Forages - Now Available

We are pleased to introduce this Chinese translation of Southern Forages. The Chinese version is an important achievement that will add to the growing world audience of the book as a valuable resource on forage production.

Ten years ago (1991) the Potash & Phosphate Institute (PPI), Potash & Phosphate Institute of Canada (PPIC), and the Foundation for Agronomic Research (FAR) introduced the first edition of Southern Forages. It represented our initial effort in publishing a textbook for a major agricultural production discipline. Since 1991, there have been two printings of the first edition, followed by the updated second edition, a Polish translation, and now the Chinese version. Nearly 25,000 copies of the English version have been distributed.

We are delighted to present the technology accumulated by the three original authors (Dr. Ball, Dr. Hoveland, and Dr. Lacefield) and their Chinese colleagues. We salute their contributions to forage production and appreciate their high level of professionalism during the development of the book. We believe the changes and additions to make the subject matter more adaptable to China conditions enhance the value of the book as a forage production tool.

The book will be of broad-based utility to growers in the southern China forage production regions. The color and black-and-white photos, charts, tables, and figures complement and help to explain the concepts and principles so well presented in the text.
